Mixed Age 0-5

This is the essential Music Together® class, one that a child can attend from birth through age five through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience.

BABIES Birth - 8 months

Music Together® Babies Class will start you on the path to becoming a musical family. Specifically designed for infants eight months and younger, this one-semester introduction to Music Together allows babies to embrace, enjoy, and express their inborn musicality. In your weekly class, you will spend forty-five music-filled minutes singing, dancing, and playing with your child, all in the company of other new parents and guided by an early childhood music specialist. You’ll learn how your child is developing musically and how you can support this growth at home. Plus, you’ll leave with lots of ideas on how to play and bond musically together and infuse music into your baby’s everyday life.

Rhythm KIDS 4-8

Rhythm Kids is an exciting music, movement, and drumming class for children in Kindergarten through second grade (ages 4 through 8). Rhythm KIDS classes lay the foundation for Basic Music Literacy, complementing in-school music instruction or instrument lessons and leading to a lifetime of joyful music-making. The curriculum includes solos and ensembles, folk dances, harmony singing, vocal development, and drumming. In a safe and fun environment, your child can experiment with new activities like game songs, story songs, conducting, improvisation, and composition.

Learn multicultural drumming patterns; develop new repertoire on various percussion instruments; explore movement and dance while singing songs; play games based on music and drumming; have fun with a host of rhythm activities. This is a drop off program, unless the parent/caregiver wants or needs to attend.

As part of the Rhythm Kids experience, children and their grownups can enjoy drumming play and practice sessions at home with the help of online play-along videos featuring Rhythm Kids creator Tom Foote.

Class Tuition includes: 10 weekly, 45-minute classes; Animal Collection Songbook and professionally recordeded CD each semester; Access to online video tutorials and play-alongs.

Course Materials: Students purchase their own hand drum (djembe) for use at home and in class. Music Together of Tracy will provide discounted sources for a beautiful instrument that will provide many years of rhythm fun for your child.

Supportive Family Class

Music Together Class for Children with Special Needs

Join us for a unique family music experience in one of our small, supportive Music Together classes especially for children with special needs. Research studies suggest that music facilitates cognitive and emotional growth, stimulates social interaction, and playing musically together is a wonderful family bonding experience. Through guided musical experiences in weekly 45-minute classes, parents and children will find new ways to explore music and express themselves.

At Music Together, music is learned through developmentally appropriate activities that support and respect the learning styles of all participants. Everyone is encouraged to participate at their own developmental level. You and your children will become part of a community of families sharing songs, instrument play, and movement activities in a relaxed, non-performance-oriented setting. In addition to ten weeks of fun, musically rich classes, you will receive one CD and an illustrated songbook so you can continue the family music-making at home. A download code is included as well so you can add the session’s music to your “Hello Everybody” app and have the music accessible on your phone.

Our Supportive Family classes are for children ages birth through early elementary. You are encouraged to enroll siblings as well, and sibling discounts apply. To ensure the best experience for everyone, the maximum enrollment is 6 families per class, so register now!
